Please read these terms before booking. They apply to every service we provide. Nothing here limits any right you have under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act or other law, and where they conflict, the law prevails.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are between FreshStep Carpet Cleaning ("FreshStep," "we," "us") and you, the customer. By booking or allowing us to begin work, you accept them. They are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
2. Services
We clean carpet, upholstery, mattresses and area rugs, treat stains, and offer move-in/move-out and short-term rental cleaning, for homes and businesses. The work we agree to is the work described in your quote or booking confirmation.
3. Quotes and pricing
- Quotes are free and based on what you tell us and any photos you send. Valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- If the job turns out larger or harder than described, we will tell you the revised price before doing the extra work, and we will only proceed with your approval.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars. GST is added where it applies.
4. Payment
Payment is due when the work is finished unless we agree otherwise in writing. We accept e-Transfer, credit/debit card and cash. Commercial customers may be invoiced with the due date stated on the invoice. If a payment fails or is late, you remain responsible for the amount owed, and we may add interest or reasonable collection costs only as permitted by law and disclosed to you in advance.
5. Booking, access and your preparation
- Times we give are estimates. Traffic or earlier jobs can cause delays, and we will contact you as soon as we can.
- Please provide safe access, working water and power, and nearby parking.
- Please clear floors of small items, and secure pets. Tell us about delicate rugs, known stains, past repairs and anything that needs special care.
- Moving large or heavy furniture is at our discretion. We will move items we can safely handle and may decline fragile or very heavy pieces.
6. Changing or cancelling a booking
Plans change, and we understand. Just let us know as early as you can, ideally a full day before your appointment, and we will find a new time with no charge.
If we are told less than 24 hours ahead, or we arrive and cannot get in or safely start, we may charge a fee of up to 50% of the quote to cover the time and travel we have already set aside. We will always tell you this amount when you book. Your rights under Alberta consumer law are not affected.
7. What cleaning can and cannot do
- Stains and wear. We treat stains carefully, but cannot promise every stain, odour or discolouration will be removed. Dyes, bleach, rust, old pet urine, and long-set stains are often permanent. We will give you an honest expectation before we start.
- Existing condition. Worn, loose or previously damaged carpet, rugs and furniture can show problems once cleaned. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, such as fraying, backing separation, colour that was already unstable, or dye transfer in poorly dyed items.
- Fabric and care labels. We follow manufacturer care codes where we can. Some fabrics and rugs (such as silk, wool, antique or hand-knotted pieces) may need special care, and we may decline to clean an item we cannot clean safely.
- Drying. Drying time depends on the material, humidity and airflow. We will explain what to expect. Please follow our aftercare advice.
8. If something is not right
We want you to be happy with the finished job. If you spot something that does not look right, send us a message or photos within 48 hours of the visit. We will review it with you and, where the issue is within what we agreed to clean, come back and redo that area at no cost.
- A redo is our usual fix, rather than a refund, because the work has already been done in your home.
- It does not apply to the permanent-stain and existing-damage situations described in section 7.
- It never reduces any refund or remedy the law gives you.
9. Safety and things we do not do
We may decline or stop work where conditions are unsafe, including biohazards, sewage or flood water, visible mould, pest infestations, or aggressive animals. If we must leave for these reasons, the cancellation terms in section 6 may apply.
10. Pets, property and valuables
Please keep pets secured and put away valuables and fragile items. We take care with your property and are responsible for damage caused by our negligence. We are not responsible for pets that are not secured, items we were not told need special care, or damage that was already there before we started.
11. Feedback and reviews
Honest reviews help small local businesses like ours, and you are free to share your experience anywhere you like. If a visit did not go well, we would appreciate a chance to fix it first, but this is a request, not a condition. We ask only that reviews describe what actually happened.
12. Job photos
We may take before-and-after photos to document the work and, occasionally, to show it on our website or social pages. People, paperwork and anything that could identify your home are kept out of frame. If you would rather we did not photograph your space, just say so before we start and we will respect that.
13. Disputes
Please contact us first. Most issues are solved quickly this way. If we cannot agree, the courts of Alberta will have jurisdiction, and small claims in the Alberta Court of Justice may be available for eligible disputes.
14. General
- These Terms and your quote make up the full agreement for the job.
- If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you book applies to that booking.
- Our website content and logo belong to FreshStep and may not be reused without permission.
