About this policy
FreshStep Carpet Cleaning is a local Edmonton business cleaning carpets, upholstery, mattresses and rugs for homes and businesses across the Edmonton area. This page describes how we treat the personal information of visitors to our website and of customers who contact or hire us.
What we ask for
Through the quote form, by phone or by text, we may receive:
- Your name, phone number and, if you choose, your email
- Your city or postal code, and your address once a job is booked
- The type of cleaning you need, your preferred date and any notes you add
- Photos of the area to be cleaned (up to 6). They are shrunk in your browser before they are sent. Please keep people and paperwork out of the shot.
- Practical details such as parking, entry instructions or pets
What our website picks up on its own
Our hosting service may keep ordinary technical logs, such as IP address, browser and pages viewed, to run and protect the site. Text fonts are loaded from Google, which means Google can see your IP address when a page loads. We do not use ad trackers or analytics cookies today, and we will update this page before adding any.
How we use it
- Answering your request and preparing your price
- Booking, carrying out and invoicing your cleaning
- Sending reminders and the occasional follow-up after a job
- Keeping the business records that tax and insurance rules require
- Blocking spam and keeping the website safe
Being in touch with you
By sending us a request or contacting us, you are inviting us to reply by call, text or email about that request and any work we do for you. Promotional messages are sent only with your permission and always include an easy way to opt out, in line with Canada's anti-spam law (CASL).
Who else sees it
We do not sell or rent personal information. It is shared only with:
- Tools we rely on: Cloudflare (hosts our site and handles the form), Resend (emails your request to us), Google (our email), plus any scheduling, invoicing or payment tools we use
- People who do the cleaning, who see your name, address, contact details and job notes, and must keep them private
- Others where the law requires, such as authorities, our insurer or professional advisers
- A future owner, if FreshStep is ever sold, who must follow this policy
Storage outside Canada
Some of these tools keep data on servers in other countries, including the United States, where local authorities may be able to request access under their laws.
How long it stays with us
- Requests that never turned into a job: deleted after about two years
- Customer and job records: six years after the last service
- Photos: stored with the job, or removed earlier if you ask
- Entry codes and key arrangements: removed once we stop serving you
Keeping it safe
Our accounts are password protected, access is limited to those who need it, and card details are handled by payment providers rather than stored by us. No online system is risk free, so we cannot promise perfect security.
Your rights
You may ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, withdraw your consent or have it deleted, apart from records we must legally keep. Contact us below and we will reply within 30 days. Reply STOP to end promotional texts, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
Minors
We provide services to adults and do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 18.
Law and complaints
We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and, where relevant, PIPEDA. If we cannot resolve a concern, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
